The project

Sudan OS Project is a groundbreaking initiative designed to empower Sudan through the development of a locally tailored operating system. The project aims to create two distinct systems: a closed-source OS dedicated to managing and enhancing educational institutions, and an open-source OS built on the Linux kernel for use in public administration and business environments. This approach allows the system to cater to the specific needs of both sectors, ensuring a user-friendly, secure, and cost-effective solution for the country.

The educational OS will focus on streamlining teaching, learning, and institutional management, with features like built-in learning management systems (LMS), exam platforms, and student data management tools. The system will also be optimized for regions with limited internet access, ensuring continuity in education even in remote areas.

The open-source OS will serve public sector institutions and businesses, providing a customizable, transparent, and scalable platform that supports efficient governance and administrative functions. By utilizing open-source technology, the project seeks to reduce software costs while enhancing cybersecurity and transparency.

With the headquarters located in Port Sudan, the project is positioned to play a significant role in Sudan’s digital transformation. Sudan OS aims to strengthen local technological sovereignty, reduce dependence on foreign software, and foster innovation across education and governance. Through this initiative, Sudan is taking a vital step towards embracing a future where technology serves as a key driver for national development.
